The
Mission

Eye to Eye is a community-centered initiative dedicated to increasing access to vision care through early vision screenings, education, and strategic partnerships.

We believe clear vision is fundamental to learning, health, confidence, and quality of life.
By connecting communities with trusted vision care resources and partners, Eye to Eye works to expand access to early detection, education, and care.
Why Eye to EYE

Approximately half of vision loss and blindness can be prevented through early diagnosis and timely treatment, yet access to screenings and follow-up care remains inconsistent for many families and communities.

Vision challenges can affect how people learn, work, connect with others, and navigate the world around them. Early detection helps ensure individuals have access to the care and support they need to live healthy, independent, and fulfilling lives.
Why This Work Matters

Founders
Story

My own vision challenges were identified through a school-based vision screening in elementary school. I still remember my father taking me to get my first pair of glasses—glasses I have worn ever since.

Looking back, I recognize that access to screening and follow-up care is a privilege not every child has.

Eye to Eye was born from that experience and inspired by the legacy of my mother, Rev. Dr. A. Oveta Fuller, whose work in public health and community outreach demonstrated the power of connecting communities to care.
Our
Approach
Eye to Eye serves as a connector, convener, and community partner.

We collaborate with organizations already doing important work in vision health to expand access to screenings, education, and referral pathways to care.
• Launching pilot vision screening initiatives in Southeast Michigan

• Building partnerships with community and healthcare organizations

• Strengthening referral pathways to vision care services

• Expanding vision health education and awareness

• Exploring innovative technologies that support vision health access
